Parent visa (subclass 103) is a permanent visa that costs AUD 6010 and it is paid in two installments. The visa starts the date you are granted. Parent visa (subclass 103) allows the parent of an Australian citizen who is a permanent resident to live in Australia permanently. You must be sponsored and your sponsor must be 18 years and above and be able to give financial and other responsibilities. You can be in or outside Australia when applying parent visa (subclass 103) but you must be outside when the decision is made. You must meet the balance of family test that is half of your children must be living permanently in Australia than in any other country. You must have paid or you are planning to pay any outstanding debt that belongs to the Australian government. If at all you had your visa that was canceled or refused while you were in Australia, you might not be eligible for parent visa (subclass 103). Parent visa (subclass 103) is in high demand and limited some places, therefore, the applications are processed in the order they were lodged. When the limit is reached there are no more visas that are granted in that financial year. Instead of applying parent visa (subclass 103), you may opt to apply contributory parent visa (subclass 143) which is also a permanent visa, it is faster but very costly compared to parent visa (subclass 103). Parent visa(subclass103) allows you to travel to and from Australia for 5 years, enroll in a Medicare, you can sponsor the eligible relative, you can apply for citizenship and you can stay, work and study in Australia. You are required to comply with the visa conditions and Australian laws while you are in Australia.
